Visit to Official Solicitor
Julie Burton recently visited the offices of the Official Solicitor in London at the end of April 2014 to update them in relation to recent developments in law and practice here in Wales.
The Official Solicitor acts as a litigation friend of last resort for people who lack capacity and in respect of whom best interests disputes need to be resolved by the Court of Protection. Their role is to ensure that an independent view is taken as to how the best interests of the individual should best be promoted.
As responsibility for health and social care is now devolved in Wales, the law in these crucial areas is gradually diverging from the law applicable in England.
It is critical that those representing the most vulnerable in our society should be aware of these changes. Hence Julie’s visit at the end of April.
